On the distinction between speculative intellect and practical intellect in Thomistic Psychology

Resumo

Neste trabalho pretendemos investigar o que é o intelecto, seu objeto e ato próprio, a partir da Psicologia Tomista. Além disso, iremos analisar a distinção entre intelecto especulativo e intelecto prático presente no Tratado De Homine da Prima Pars da Suma Teológica de Santo Tomás de Aquino. Assim, pretendemos apresentar a importância do conhecimento do bem como princípio dos hábitos humanos.

Abstract

In this work we intend to investigate what the intellect is, its object and act itself, based on Thomistic Psychology. Furthermore, we will analyze the distinction between speculative intellect and practical intellect present in the Treatise De Homine of the Prima Pars of the Summa Theologiae of Saint Thomas Aquinas. Thus, we intend to present the importance of knowledge of the good as a principle of human habits.
