Do the convergences and divergences of cognitive-behavioral therapy with thomistic psychology provide a basis for a comparative randomized clinical trial of their therapeutic effectiveness?

Resumo

La Terapia Cognitivo-Conductual (TCC) ven siendo empleada en diversos estudios como referencia para la comparación de la efectividad o de la eficacia terapéutica de otras modalidades de intervención psicoterapéutica desde hace algunos años. El objetivo del presente trabajo es discutir las convergencias y divergencias existentes entre el enfoque psicológico aristotélico-tomista (EPAT) y la TCC, tal como la proponen Aaron y Judith Beck, a ver si ofrecen base suficiente para que la efectividad terapéutica del EPAT pueda ser testada mediante un ensayo clínico aleatorizado que la compare con la efectividad de la TCC. Para esto se empleará una revisión bibliográfica integrativa que permita obtener datos suficientes para contestar la cuestión de investigación y así subsidiar el desarrollo del studio del potencial terapéutico del EPAT.

Abstract

Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) has been used in various studies as a reference for comparing the effectiveness or therapeutic efficacy of other forms of psychotherapeutic intervention for some years. The objective of this paper is to discuss the convergences and divergences between the Aristotelian-Thomistic psychological approach (EPAT) and CBT, as proposed by Aaron and Judith Beck, to see if they offer a sufficient basis for the therapeutic effectiveness of EPAT to be tested through a randomized clinical trial that compares it with the effectiveness of CBT. For this purpose, an integrative bibliographic review will be used to obtain sufficient data to answer the research question and thus support the development of the study of the therapeutic potential of EPAT.
